NEW Quad Cut Groove

New groove regulations introduced on tour in 2010 will become standard for all wedges manufactured and distributed after Jan 1 2011.

With grooves becoming more standardized, other factors become increasingly important to control spin rates around the greens. Material and club-head construction are now key to manipulate the golf ball - which is where Mizuno's Grain Flow Forged wedges excel.

Forged from 1025E Pure Select mild carbon steel, Mizuno's MP T-11 provides a pure, soft club-head that holds the ball a fraction longer on full pitches. On shorter pitch shots where the ball does not fully compress, CNC milled score-lines between the grooves ensure maximum traction.
A wider, shallower version of Mizuno's QUAD CUT groove is used on 56-64 degree models to assist traction on the shorter, partial strikes - where the ball cannot fully compress. Over 50-54 degrees, QUAD CUT uses a narrower, deeper configuration, suitable for fuller, squarer strikes.

Spin rates are accompanied by the shot making prowess of a compact teardrop shape. The thicker topline is bevelled down by a 360 grind, which also keeps the lead edge tight to the ground on a variety of shots.

The MP T-11 wedge line is available in two finishes; Two Tone White Satin chrome and glare resistant Black Nickel.

Our IGS Pro's Comments On Mizuno MP T11 Black Nickel Wedges

"The new rules on groove design - banning the squarer cut forced us to completely re-asses how to make the ball spin. We found that the real spin losses were found on shorter pitches where the ball was just partially struck - rather than the fuller shots.

We realized that we needed more than one groove configuration to suit both kinds of shots. The shallower, wider groove in conjunction with some face milling made a huge difference on shots around the green.

Luke Donald used this set up for us over the 2010 season - becoming the PGA Tour's leading player for sand saves in the process. Which proves how quickly the Mizuno QUAD CUT system has overcome the new groove restrictions."
